OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
2023-2024 Instructional Focus:
To strengthen teachers practice around the use of formative assessment and student feedback through professional learning and ongoing data discussion in order to monitor student progress.
The Vision
P.S. 128M’s Vision is to educate the whole child while instilling a passion for lifelong learning. We believe that children learn best when practices are purposefully connected and when they are provided with multiple entry points, in order to achieve high standards of academic excellence and to flourish into responsible and resourceful citizens. Our beliefs are observable through the following:
- Learning is interconnected
- Lessons are rigorous and standards based that fosters student independence and ownership
- Planned lessons that incorporate multiple entry points; use and removal of scaffolds for learning
- Use of collaborative conversation
The Mission
The P.S.128M learning community, consisting of the staff, parents and community-based organizations, will work collaboratively to create a safe and nurturing child-centered environment in which students’ cultural experiences, physical, social and emotional development are integrated with the educational process. We will provide our students with all available tools and resources to foster critical thinking skills in order to empower them to be contributing, responsible future citizens of their community as well as be able to compete in the changing global economy.

RESPECT FOR ALL PROGRAM
NYC Department of Education's Respect for All Program
The NYC DOE launched the citywide Respect For All program in 2007 to build the capacity of staff and students to actively promote a community of inclusion in each of our schools.
The seeds of Respect For All (RFA) were sown in the aftermath of 9/11, when the NYC DOE began a concerted citywide effort to promote respect for diversity and combat harassment, discrimination and bullying. This initiative provided professional development for K-12 school staff, as well as direct services to students. The goal of this work is to ensure that every NYC school provides a learning environment where all children feel safe, valued and respected.
